"A hen with the softest feathers yet clad in iron on the outside"
That's the best my imagination can bring me as I consider the amazing promises of God in Ps 91 - a God in whose arms I feel so comfortable and yet affords the best protection anyone can find anywhere.
PS 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
PS 91:5-6 You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness, nor the plague that destroys at midday.
PS 91:7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.
PS 91:8 You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.
"Psalm 91 is called the Soldier's Psalm. We are told that in World War I, the soldiers of the 91st Brigade recited the 91st Psalm daily. This brigade engaged in three of the war's bloodiest battles. Other units suffered up to 90% casualties, but the 91st Brigade did not suffer a single combat-related death.
PS 91:14 "Because he loves me," says the LORD, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
PS 91:15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
PS 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."
PS 91:15 He will call upon me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.
PS 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."
I'm going to commit this psalm to memory - join me?
