PS 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.
PS 118:9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes.
PS 118:10 All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.
PS 118:11 They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.
PS 118:12 They swarmed around me like bees, but they died out as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

PS 118:11 They surrounded me on every side, but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.
PS 118:12 They swarmed around me like bees, but they died out as quickly as burning thorns; in the name of the LORD I cut them off.
PS 118:13 I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me.
Today I reflected upon this segment of the psalm to trust in the name of the Lord. In good times, the disciplines of prayer & tithing are so important to the develop dependence upon God. It is so important to have that daily devotion regardless of schedule. We must make it FUNDAMENTAL to our lives. Else in troubled times, all our "true life buoys" will kick in.
118 days into reading a psalm a day, I've learnt that it is a discipline that must be:
1) Committed (incidental delight will not work)
2) Persistent (150 days is excellent - I used to read that 40 days is guaranteed to break a habit)
32 days more - I certainly hope it will not be my last. I think we have to aim to go further, not just to finish 150. :)
