In the biblical times, motherhood is the crowning achievement for any woman. Thus barrenness is a condition of shame (unlike today when so many choose not to have children).
And I recall that in our early years of marriage, we had such difficult conceiving. (Of course with advance medical knowledge, we know it's not just the woman's fault)
Which explains our joy when Elsie was born. She's named 铭惠 - it means "remember God's grace".
So was Anna. She's 欣惠- which means "delight in God's grace".
Surely it was God's abundant grace that we have children. They are such a delight and blessing to our family.
Today I join with believers all over the world and declare Ps 113:1-3
PS 113:1 Praise the LORD. Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.
PS 113:2 Let the name of the LORD be praised, both now and forevermore.
PS 113:3 From the rising of the sun to the place where it sets, the name of the LORD is to be praised.
