1 Praise the LORD.
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,
who finds great delight in his commands.
2 His children will be mighty in the land;
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches are in his house,
and his righteousness endures forever.
4 Even in darkness light dawns for the upright,
for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man.
5 Good will come to him who is generous and lends freely,
who conducts his affairs with justice.
6 Surely he will never be shaken;
a righteous man will be remembered forever.
7 He will have no fear of bad news;
his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.
8 His heart is secure, he will have no fear;
in the end he will look in triumph on his foes.
9 He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor,
his righteousness endures forever;
his horn will be lifted high in honor.
10 The wicked man will see and be vexed,
he will gnash his teeth and waste away;
the longings of the wicked will come to nothing.
Blessed is the man who fears the LORD,

Why do you want to be a Christian? Why do you want to forsake all the fun in this world? Why do you want to be a doorkeeper in the house of God? Why not dwell in the tents of the wicked every day and make merry?
I don't know about you. But sometimes those questions do bother me.
But it seems that Psalm 112 has the answers to all of the above questions. Blessed is the man fears the Lord! There are so many practical blessings that God give to those who fear Him.
- His children and offspring will be blessed (v2).
- He will enjoy wealth and riches (v3).
- Even in difficult circumstances, he will have hope (v4).
- He will be blessed when he gives generously (v5).
- He will not be shaken by bad news. He is steadfast and trusts the Lord (v6-7).
- He is secure and fears nothing (except God) (v8).
- He will have a good reputation (v9).
A year ago, I was faced with devastating news. My grandpa was in critical condition. It was when God revealed Psalm 112:6-7 to me. "Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD" I was deeply consoled and began to pray for my grandpa. And praise God, he received Christ. Then he was called home by the Lord.
Things to ponder
1. Which of the 7 things mentioned above do you want the most? Why?
2. Pray for yourself to walk towards becoming a person who fears the Lord.
