1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.
In case you're wondering, God doesn't rest or work part-time. He watches over every one of us 24/7. He protects us ALL the time, without fail.
When things go wrong, it is easy for us to think that maybe God made a mistake and wasn't looking. But it is clear that in Psalm 121, that is not true.
God is the best insurance for you and I. We need to put our absolute security in Him, and not on things of the world. If bad things happened, we have to trust that God has a purpose in allowing us to experienced them - even if we don't understand with our human minds. After all, the Lord said this in Isaiah 55:9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. "
Lord, help me to always remember (especially when I'm down) that You are my protector, and You will give me the best.
