Their place of worship is defiled, their unshakeable city is destroyed (v1)
- The scavengers are eating up the dead because there is no proper burial (v2)
- There is bloodshed and killing all over the city (v3)
- The neighbouring countries mock them (v4)
- "How long" (v5) - He says it with a certainty that God will respond, it's just a matter of "when"
- "Pour out..." (v6,7) - He cries out for God to hasten his response. It's not a question of whether God will respond, it was about when
- "Do not hold against us..." (v8) - He appeals to the mercy of God, assuming it is there
No everyone who prays to God does so in faith. In fact, even in my own life, many times I pray out of fear, or even faithlessness - being insecure about whether God will come true in difficult times.
Ps 79 reveals the state of the psalmist's heart, even in what seems like laments.
Today I realised that in the past 2 days, I've been a bit down, thinking about posssibly negative things in my life. I realise it's time to get out of operating in the flesh and returning to see in the Spirit.
